A strategic position to the East of the Parisian basin |
The Vitryat region is at equal distance from the Alsace and the Parisian region; it is situated in the heart of two well frequented crossroads which permit an East-West crossing of more than 20,000 vehicles per day, of which 30% consist of heavy goods vehicles. The RN4 links Paris to Strasbourg: the natural flow between Paris and Germany.
The RN44 links Cambrai to Vitry-le-François.
In addition, the A26 which links Calais to Troyes is within 15 minutes’ reach.

Many major companies and an important fabric of small and medium sized businesses specializing in transportation (transport Tratel (Johar), transport Liebart, transport Picard, transport Vitry, transport du Perthois, transport Mauffrey, transport Choppin, Lilluffo…) offer complete and diversified services. |
The agglomeration of Vitryat is situated at two important railroad intersections:
Paris-Strasbourg with two daily services
Calais-Lyon-Méditerranée
|
The secondary railroads linking some of the major businesses provide a direct access to line 1 of the SNCF network (French railways) Paris – Strasbourg. These companies are important shippers as regards tonnage (90,000 tonnes annually for Vallourec)
|
Three canals join together at Vitry-le-François (Marne canal at la Saône – Marne canal to the Rhine – side canal to the Marne), which promote the interconnection with the canals for large gauge shipping in the Parisian region, with the North, the East and the South of France.
The development of tourism contributes to the attractiveness of the region thanks to several nautical stops and a river port.
